Screen Shots of 3D Environment

I have started from scratch again this time staying with in and sticking to the original idea, however the "flying mushroom" was of great value in the learning process. Personally I blame Maya for straying from the original idea; it's a piece of software that fires the imagination.

Start of basic mushroom buildings

 Creating the arched door entrance

Working out number of stairs required and style of stair

Trying out placement of building and possible area for water

Top tier of mushroom buildings have now been altered to make them more mushroom like in appearance

The Island and trying out textures

At the moment I am having difficulty creating a seamless stone texture.

Success
After much frustration and testing of various stone textures that just did not give the effect wanted, I set about creating a texture that would. The whole point of the floating island is creating something that should not be, but is, that leaves you thinking " that should not be floating around like that, but some how it just seems right" in the same manner Roger Deans islands give that sense of 'impossible' but some how 'plausible'. The stone textures up until now - apart from not being seamless - had me thinking of meteors and space debris; very plausible and natural, so I decided to create a block work texture. This hopefully would tick all the boxes, a material used that should not be, to create a shape it could not be, in a place it would not be, yet looks that plausible, it must be.
